Hello,

Greetings! My name is Emelda Anderson.

I hail from Amite, Louisiana – Home to the Mighty, Mighty Warriors. I have always been active at school and church. I graduated in the top 10 of my class and was the only black female. At church, I was the secretary of the Sunday School, president of Youth in Action for Christ and member of the junior choir.

I graduated from THEE Jackson State University, Jackson, MS with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with an emphasis in Mathematics. I was a member of the Honors College and assistant editor of the Jacksonian Yearbook to name a few of the organizations I was a part of. I have one adult son, Sloan, who is my heart. I now reside in Irving, TX working for VISTRA Corp. where I am the Director of TXU Energy Large Business Operations.

I was initiated into our illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at THEE Delta Pi Chapter on the campus of THEE Jackson State University Spring 1993. Immediately after graduation, I moved to Omaha, NE working for AT&T. I was blessed to join the Omaha Alumnae Chapter where I was awarded 1996 Delta of the Year Award. I served various roles while a part of the chapter – Leader of the Minerva Circle, Corresponding Secretary, 2nd Vice President and co-chaired numerous positions. My proudest moment serving as Gamma Xi Chapter advisor restoring the chapter after years of being inactive. I have made lifelong soror-friends in the chapter and we remain close.

Upon moving to the DFW metroplex, I was inactive for a number of years focusing on my family, work, and church. As a member of Friendship West Baptist Church, I served as a secretary in the Singles Ministry, Soul Stirrers for Christ (door to door witnessing), and as a part of the children’s ministry teaching the 4 – 5-year-olds at Sunday Church.

It has been my absolute joy to become a member of the award winning North Central Texas Alumnae Chapter. The warmth and love I experienced upon attending my first meeting drew me in after being inactive for so long. Service and being an advocate for others is in my heart. It is the reason I became a member of our Sisterhood.
