ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
African Americans have been economically disenfranchised due to racism and other social ills. The NCTA Economic Development Committee, with instruction from our national body, seeks to change the course of this grave tragedy. Our mission is to encourage and improve economic well-being, thus improving the quality of life for our community. This goal is accomplished by pairing individuals with knowledge, tools, and resources.
EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
BETTY SHABAZZ DELTA ACADEMY (for females ages 11-14)
The goals of the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy are to offer mentoring, educational activities, and service learning opportunities for girls, with a particular emphasis on mathematics, science, and technology, and to help young girls excel and pursue careers in these areas.
DELTA GEMS (high school females)
The primary goals of the DELTA GEMS are to provide tools that enable girls to sharpen and enhance their skills to achieve high academic success and to assist in proper goal-setting and decision-making.
EMBODI (young men ages 13-18)
Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence (EMBODI) was created to address the educational, social, and emotional obstacles that plague African American males. The monthly workshops focus on cultural/academic enrichment, boosting self-confidence, image, violence, relationships, health, and economic empowerment.

INTERNATIONAL AWARENESS & INVOLVEMENT
NCTA wants to encourage involvement in international affairs, especially affairs that affect people of the African Diaspora, and educate the community at large on current and ongoing issues within the international arena.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL HEALTH
Studies have shown that African Americans suffer from a myriad of diseases at greater rates than any other population. The NCTA Health and Wellness Committee is dedicated to bringing awareness to this fact and teaching persons of color how to live in a manner that enhances overall well-being. Through fun and interactive events, the committee tackles difficult topics and teaches our community how to eat and live better. To this end, we host a Health Fair annually to accomplish this goal and honor trailblazers in the field of medicine.
POLITICAL AWARENESS & INVOLVEMENT
Social Justice and protecting the rights of human beings is at the very core of what Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded upon. Our National Social Action Commission strives earnestly to ensure that issues impacting our country and world are at the forefront of our consciousness. Locally, we earnestly seek to empower the residents of Tarrant County through forging partnerships with community organizations.
